Huge congratulations to the incredible Sarah Jodoin Di Maria on receiving the Next Gen Award! Your hard work, passion, and dedication continue to inspire everyone around you.
We’re so proud to see your amazing accomplishments being recognized, and we can’t wait to see all the incredible things you’ll do next. The future is yours, Sarah!
Sarah Jodoin Di Maria was born in Quebec and has Italian heritage through her father. From a young age, she was deeply involved in sports, excelling in skiing, gymnastics, and diving. Her athletic ability and dedication allowed her to compete at a high level in multiple disciplines.
However, at the age of 16, she made the pivotal decision to focus exclusively on diving, recognizing her potential in the sport.
In 2017, she faced a turning point in her career when the Canadian gymnastics team did not invite her to a national training camp. Determined to continue her athletic journey, she reached out to Domenico Rinaldi, a former Olympic diver and the coach of the Italian diving team.
Recognizing her talent, Rinaldi invited her to train with the team in Italy. After attending a training camp there, Jodoin Di Maria was impressed by the level of coaching and the opportunities available. She ultimately decided to represent Italy in international competitions, knowing it would provide her with the best chance to succeed at the highest level.
To solidify her transition, she obtained Italian citizenship and moved to Italy in 2018. Settling in Rome, she immersed herself in her new training regimen, working tirelessly to refine her skills.
Her efforts paid off when she qualified to compete for Italy at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, marking a significant milestone in her career.
Competing on the Olympic stage was a dream come true, and she embraced the challenge with determination, hoping to inspire young athletes with her journey.
